Video of the Day: “Buddy Holly” – Weezer

The year was 1994. Weezer had just put out their eponymous debut album. The band was releasing their second single from the CD, “Buddy Holly”, and they tabbed director Spike Jonze to work his magic on the video.

Weezer alternates between trying to be really hip and not caring about their un-coolness. This picture falls in the former category.

The result was brilliant. Jonze superseded the band into scenes from “Happy Days”, including a special appearance by the Fonz himself. If you are the kind who needs peer pressure to decide on something, this vid is often put on “best-ever” lists. So yeah.

Oh, plus if you haven’t actually heard the song “Buddy Holly”, I’m doing you a favor. Also, if you’re still reading this third section of text and haven’t actually watched the video yet, what the hell?
