New LCD Soundsystem Video Made With… LEGOs?

Some crazed LCD Soundsystem fan has created a video for the classic tune “All My Friends”. But, wait, isn’t there already a video for that song? Not in LEGOs, there’s not.

That’s right, this man recreated the entire “All My Friends” video—shot for shot, mind you—with LEGO characters. James Murphy, face paint and all, gets new life as a yellowish-skinned toy, and the rest of the characters are done up with equal attention to detail.

For all of you techies out there, this is how the video was done, according to the mysteriously unnamed maker: “This is part exercise in lip-syncing and digital effects, part tribute to the band that no longer is. Physical elements shot with a Nikon D50. Compositing and effects done in After Effects CS5. Face designed in Illustrator CS5.”

So, let me know, just how close to original is the video? Which one is better? Who actually cares?

Original video:

Thanks to Rolling Stone and Under The Radar for the report.
