Wow, what a difference two years can make. Back in the summer of 2009, Kings of Leon were possibly the biggest rock band in America, with their smash hit “Use Somebody” suffocating radio stations across the country.
Now, it seems everything is not right with the chemistry of the Nashville band. Last Friday night (no, this is not an intentional Katy Perry reference) the group was in Dallas for a show when lead singer Caleb Followill started complaining about the heat. According to People.com (a great source, I know), about 50 minutes into the show, Followill stated “I’m gonna go backstage for a second and I’m gonna vomit.”
The singer never returned, and the rest of the band was left to deal with the angry crowd. “It’s really not our fault – it’s Caleb,” said Jared and Matthew Followill, “He can’t play the rest of the show. We will be back as soon as possible.”
Later this weekend, the band members took to Twitter to sort out their problems. “Dallas, I cannot begin to tell you how sorry I am,” Jared Tweeted. “There are internal sicknesses & problems that have needed to be addressed.” He added more on Saturday: “I love our fans so much. I know you guys aren’t stupid. I can’t lie. There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade.”
Time will tell whether K.O.L. can work through these issues or not. The one thing they have going for them is that they’re all part of the same family, so it’ll be tougher to get rid of each other. Of course, that didn’t stop Liam and Noel Gallagher, so I suppose all bets are off.
Thanks to People for the report.
